New York at Christmas, is there anywhere in the world quite so magical and icon?! Not only had New York been on my bucket list for quite some time, I always dreamt to be able to go at Christmas. After Covid delays and then cancelled flights (but we won't go into that!), we finally made it on Boxing Day 2021.
If it is your first time visiting New York and you only have a few days, it can be a bit overwhelming to plan and fit everything in. All those famous sites, tall skyscrapers and of course the amazing restaurants and bars but not enough time!
That's where Daisy's Travels is here to help!
Below I will share our full itinerary for our trip and what we managed to fit in! It's no secret though, I wouldn't say New York is a relaxing holiday, particularly if it is your first few times there.
Day 1:
Well our Day 1 schedule didn't quite go to plan after the aforementioned cancelled/delayed flights but we had just planned to relax, unpack and do a bit of shopping. Luckily we just made our dinner reservation, albeit bringing all our luggage to the restaurant!
Dinner was at Scarpetta (https://www.scarpettarestaurants.com/location/scarpetta-new-york-city/?msclkid=644cbf00a9f511ec8016eb31ebf3e7d8)
My next blog post is going to be about NYC recommendations so I won't go into too much detail, but it was a beautiful setting and the food was so good. I just wish I wasn't so tired when we went!
Day 2:
Walk to Grand Central Station
Breakfast at Pershing Square (the most amazing pancakes!)
Walk to Central Park & hire bikes round the park
Lunch at Ellen's Duster Diner (be prepared to queue but worth it!) (https://www.ellensstardustdiner.com/menu/?msclkid=6fe5fb61a9f811eca9a863da31402e6c
Shopping!
Ice Hockey at Madison Square Gardens
Drinks at local bars
Day 3:
Ground Zero Memorial and 9/11 Museum
One World Trade Centre (no spoilers but love how they did the ascent!)
Walked round Wall Street
Free Staten Ferry to see Statue of Liberty and NY skyline (we didn't stop at Ellis Island)
Dinner at Mastros Steakhouse - absolutely AMAZING (https://www.mastrosrestaurants.com/location/mastros-steakhouse-new-york/?msclkid=62b02564a9f711ecb1b901d5c3d6a22)
Chicago on Broadway
Cocktails at SkyLark (although we were actually too tired and went to bed instead!)
Day 4:
The Edge (The visibility was actually zero when we turned up so we managed to rearrange for the next day!)
Walked the Hudson High Line and visited Hudson Yards
Top of the Rock
Ice Skating at Rockefeller Centre (the epitome of Christmas in NYC!)
Cafe Wha! (A recommendation from a friend and probably one of the best nights I've had - so much fun. The live music was so good, a must visit!)
Day 5:
The Edge (delayed from yesterday!)
Empire State Building
Brooklyn Bridge and exploring Brooklyn
Visit to Katz Delicatessen
Fly home!
I mean we probably couldn't have done much more in the time we were there! It was very busy, but it was a trip of a lifetime! I already want to go back, this time maybe in the summer to enjoy the rooftop bars and to see a different side of the city! & also maybe visit the skyscrapers again when we can actually see more!
I haven't gone into too much detail about each place as my next post will be my New York Top 5 and some other recommendations so stay tuned for that! In the meantime be sure to check out my recent reels on my Instagram to see more of our trip! https://www.instagram.com/daaisyg__/
Take Care,
Daisy xx
